How to reach us, and how to find us

One telephone number, answered day and night. A handful of email addresses for the things that are not urgent. A car park at the far end of a business court, past the joinery and the tyre depot.

For anything urgent, telephone. Email is read during office hours only, and the enquiry form on this page is not monitored out of hours. If you are worried about your animal right now, use the number below and say so.

Between the morning and afternoon consulting sessions the team is in theatre or working through the day's admissions. Reception stays open, so you can collect food and repeat items, but a vet will not usually be free to see a routine case.

Appointments and general enquiries

reception@corvuslanevet.example.com

Booking, changing or cancelling an appointment, repeat medication requests, registering a new pet, updating your contact details, or asking whether something is worth an appointment at all.

Please give at least two working days' notice for a repeat prescription, and longer over a public holiday weekend.

Appointment enquiry

Use this for anything that is not urgent. It reaches the same inbox as reception@corvuslanevet.example.com and is read during reception hours only.

Send us a message

We reply to this address. Nothing else is done with it.

Please do not send anything urgent this way. Messages are read during reception hours, in the order they arrive, and are usually answered the same working day.

What to put in the message

The more of this you include, the fewer times we have to write back asking.

  • Your pet's name, and their species and rough age
  • Whether you are already registered with us, and under which name
  • What you would like — an appointment, a repeat item, a question answered
  • Roughly what the appointment is for. A limp and a lump need different amounts of time.
  • Whether you would prefer a particular vet, and whether mornings or afternoons suit better
  • Whether a video appointment would suit, if it is the kind of thing that could be done on a screen
  • A telephone number, in case a reply is easier spoken than typed

Finding us

Unit 7 is at the far end of Ashfield Green Business Court. Drive past the joinery and the tyre depot and keep going — people turn back too early surprisingly often.

By car

The business court is signposted from the main road through Ashfield Green. Turn in at the entrance beside the bus stop and follow the road right to the end. We are the low brick building with the blue doors, on your left, with the car park directly in front.

There are fourteen client spaces outside, including two marked accessible bays beside the entrance. Parking is free for clients and is rarely full except in the first half hour of the afternoon session. If it is, there is further parking at the near end of the court, about a hundred metres away, with a level footpath back to us.

Satellite navigation occasionally sends people to the near end of the court and announces that they have arrived. If you are looking at a tyre depot, keep going.

On foot and by bus

Bus routes 14 and 14A stop at the Green, which is a seven-minute walk: into the court, straight down, and we are at the end. The footpath is level and lit. The rook footpath behind the court — the one that gave the practice its name — also comes out beside our car park, though it is unlit and muddy in winter.

The nearest railway station is about three miles away. Taxis from the rank know the court by name; ask for the veterinary practice at the far end rather than the postcode.

Cycling

There is a bike rack under the canopy by the door, which is out of the rain and visible from reception.

Assistance dogs and children

Assistance dogs are welcome throughout the building; tell reception on arrival so that we can seat you away from other animals. Children are welcome too, and generally ask better questions than the adults, but we do ask that they stay seated with you — a nervous dog does not always read a small approaching person the way we would like.

If you are coming for an appointment you expect to be difficult, and would rather not have children in the room, say so when you book and we will find a time that works.

Which route to use

A rough guide to whether something warrants a telephone call, an email or a wait until Monday.

Other things people contact us about

The five or six subjects that make up most of what arrives at the desk.

Registering a pet

Registration is free, takes a few minutes and can be done over the telephone or at the desk. You do not need to give notice to your current practice or ask their permission — if your pet has been seen elsewhere, just give us the name and we will request the clinical history for you.

The full step-by-step version, and a list of what to bring to the first visit, is in the registration section of the home page. If your pet is midway through a course of treatment, say so, and we will chase the records quickly rather than in the usual order.

Running late, or cancelling

Let us know as early as you can. A slot given back before the morning generally goes to somebody who is waiting for it. We ask for at least four hours' notice; repeated missed appointments without notice may be charged at the consultation rate.

If you are simply going to be ten minutes late, telephone anyway. Sometimes we can still fit you in, and sometimes we cannot, but knowing lets reception rearrange the rest of the session rather than holding an empty room.

Feedback and complaints

If something has gone wrong, please tell us. Speak to Grace Whitlock in person, on the main number, or write to manager@corvuslanevet.example.com. Most concerns are resolved at that stage and quickly.

We acknowledge a written complaint within three working days and aim to give a full written reply within fourteen, or to tell you why more time is needed. If you are dissatisfied with the reply, you may ask for it to be reviewed by a director.

Beyond that, you are entitled to take the matter to the professional body that regulates veterinary surgeons, and we will give you the details on request rather than making you look for them.

Video appointments

If you would like a video appointment rather than coming in, say so when you telephone or write. We will book the right length with the right vet and send a link by email.

What they are good for, what they are not, and the home broadband connection you need are all set out on the video consultations page.

Reception will also set up a free two-minute test call the day before, so that you find out whether your camera works while nothing is at stake.
